Overview:

 

Key Duties:

  • Performs JPS operations according to base operational procedures.
  • Reports any failures during operational periods.
  • Maintains log book during operational period.
  • Performs Alarm response and Sample Collection as required
  • Donning and Doffing of Personnel Protective Equipment
  • Makes NBC operational recommendations for sensor utilization
  • Assists in training of Operator 1's as applicable
  • Performs and records scheduled maintenance.
  • Uses general hand tools and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic power tools.
  • Performs general housekeeping of shelters and shop area.
  • Assists Site Technician with heavy lifting to accomplish site maintenance. compliance with accepted practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

General Requirements:

The Operator II must be able to meet the following requirements

  • Understand the CBRN Contractor Logistics Support Program: The Operator II is a visible ambassador to the Government and to supported units of a designated site. The Operator II must be thoroughly familiar with the program and equipment.
  • People Skills: The Operator II must maintain an air of support mindfulness at all times. This includes when dealing with coworkers, Prime Contractor, Government, and personnel of supported units. The Operator II must work toward ensuring that a cooperative Team atmosphere is maintained.
  • Act in a Support Role: The Operator II provides technical and administrative input to the Hub Lead or Senior Technician, supported unit, and others as required. Works as a productive Team member.

 

Knowledge Of:  

  • Military NBC operations
  • Basic theories, principles of maintenance
  • Basic theories, principles of troubleshooting equipment
  • Basic ability to read and comprehend drawings, diagrams, and manuals
  • Basic ability to interpret manufacturer's manuals or similar documents

 

Skilled In / Ability to Learn:  

  • Applying theories, principles, and procedures of maintenance
  • Isolating malfunctions
  • Performing repairs in accordance with technical manuals, other documents.
  • Applying technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved by referencing manufacturer's manuals or similar documents
  • Interpreting written and verbal direction
  • Preparing clear, concise and informative reports and other written materials
  • Working as a productive Team player
  • Communicating effectively with coworkers, Hub Lead, Prime Contractor, supported units, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information

 



Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Hub Lead or Senior Technician on site, performs Joint Portal Shield (JPS) operator duties, scheduled maintenance and general housekeeping. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, providing input to site support levels and enhancements; providing technical advice; submitting input for on-demand reports and trend analysis; and interfacing with the Prime Contractor and supported units as required.



Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and Three (3) years of experience.

Military or HLS training in NBC Defense operations

 

Other Requirements:

Work requires periods of bending, standing, lifting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling,

reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, and performing repetitive motions. Requires ability to exert

100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently. Visual requirements

are the minimum standard for those whose work deals largely with visual inspection involving

small defects, small parts, and computer terminals. Must be able to wear and perform duties in Personal Protective Equipment as required. Requires extensive reading.

 

Must meet physical standards established for overseas deployment during periods of emergency.

Work is performed in both inside and outside environmental conditions. Requirement for

worldwide travel, participation in field exercises in a harsh environment and to deploy with

supported systems during times of emergency under hostile conditions. These are conditions for

employment. Failure to meet deployment standards or an unwillingness to accept these conditions

of employment will result in reassignment or termination of employment. Must have or be able to

obtain a security clearance and a passport.
